Mage Wars is a game where you control a Mage that is dueling another Mage to determine who is the best mage. Seems pretty simple on the outside but there is a lot to the mechanics. The game plays as a cross between a miniature, board and card game all in one. This gives a great unique experience. Fun for any avid fantasy wizard duel player! This is a great 2 player game where each player takes a turn and moves a creature one after another. The start of each turn each player gains mana that they use to cast their spells. Set up your strategies to increase the rate you gain mana. Then each player will select what 2 spells they will have access to during the game turn. These choices are hidden be sure to increase your skills to play your deadly spells at just the right moment! The players then take turns activating a creature trying to defeat the opposing mage.
Each of the mages have a specialty set of abilities that makes them unique. There is the Wizard that is a general all around spell caster. The Priestess which has some healing and lots of defensive spells and of course can summon Angels to fight for her. The Warlock has made some deals with some unnatural beings for extra power and can cast spells that may hurt him but will hurt the opponent even more! The Beastmaster enjoys nature and can summon his army of his animals that he will lead to victory.
With the spell book concept it really gives you the feeling that you are a Mage. You flip through the spells that you know and select 2 that you believe will help lead you to victory that round. This is a great experience for making you really feel like a Mage with vast magical resources. You build your custom spell book from the 330 include spell cards. Don’t worry there are suggested beginner books to get you going quickly. Each of the Mages have different focuses which effects the costs of using the spells for them. You get to use your imagination and creativity to build your Mage in the image you want.
