Let me toss in my 2 cents as to why "I" find this game newbie unfriendly, and bare in mind guys I love this game.

Gameplay

1- The game has 100+ keywords (2.5 pages worth).

2- The players have access to their whole Deck (spellbook) as of turn one.

Core Set

1- Has only two spellbooks... Which means once the owner has made two 120 point spellbooks, he isn't going to be too motivated to swap out his creations for the apprentice versions. Its a hasstle, a big one. So although the Apprentice verions are much easier for new players, they are inconvenient. And so the new player ends up with a 120 point book... First Game with said books = 2-4 hours.

Human Nature

1- Alot of new players want to win, and as such will read every single inch of every single card, in some weirdo fantasy where they expect to make the most perfect plays each turn.

2- And this may be a hard pill for many to swallow... But I could probably stomp a new player in under 1h, but do you think he would be more incline to buy the game if he were to win his first match or lose it?

And here is one final sad truth. Give this game to two players that have never played it before, put them in a closed room, tell then they cannot leave the room until their game is over... Its quite possible you will never see them again.

P.S. Where are my custom spellbooks and additonal expansions? Arcame Wonder, you are my supplier, and I am your drugy.
