Thread: Mage Wars:: Strategy:: Top Five Power Cards (Core Set)

List your Top Five Power Cards; based on utility and or playstyle. This will help a lot of new players build custom decks (in theory, lol), mine:

5. Decoy
(board control (fake traps), seeking dispel bait, nullify bait, and even a little "Reverse Attack / Magic" feinting (cause AP)) Also a neat way to "hide" mana on the board (mindgames meta). I included at least 2 in every deck.

4. Hydra
Wow. Hits like a truck, hard to kill, and counterstrike? Seems too good to be true once you have easy work-a-rounds for "Slow." Starting to consider 1 in every deck -- if only a counter to Hydra.

3. Bear Strength
No comment. Every deck. Period.

2. Nullify
Cheaper than 'Reverse Magic,' without the potential backfire* of 'Reverse Magic.' Protects wands, weapons, sanity.

1. Teleport
Everygame I need Teleport. And often more than 1. So much utility. So much "I just won" potential. Really good in combo with so much cards. IMO, Best in Set.


(* 'Reverse Magic' can backfire on you if the opponent cast a friendly enchantment and you're now forced to Reverse it back. Wasting the 'Reverse Magic.')
