Hello BBGs,my Mage Wars copy just arrived and i am a huge fan of the Magic - The Gathering TCG, so i had to get this as well. I am also a kind of perfectionist and of course a collector, so i have plenty of experience with storing/sleeving.
In this case i want to share some tips with you. First of all it is awesome, that the creators of the game left some space in the spellbook, so the players can use standard sized sleeves and the cards still fit in.
Nevertheless the sleeves are pretty huge and the card dont perfectly fit or or sometimes even fall out. This is too bad, when it falls down into something.
So i tried the "Pro-Fit" sleeves from Ultra Pro and guess what: They fit perfectly. (They were considered to be used as a inner sleeve together with an outer sleeve for TCG)
The problems i had with some MTG cards, was that it was pretty hard to slip them into the sleeves + they sometimes bended a bit to the back. With the mage Wars cards there is none of those problems. They fit perfectly in and they don`t bend it in any way. The only CON is that the cards only have very little space on the top, where the sleeves cover the card. This is only a small problem, because they have a tighter fit into the sleeves, which denies any slippery out of the sleeve.
So in short or for those, who don`t wanna read my Wall of Text:
PROS:
- perfect size
- tight and good hold of the card
- better to handle when choosing spells etc.
- no slipping around in the sleeves
- (if you are really crazy, you can double-sleeve the cards)
CONS:
- more expensive than the standard card sleeves
- small edge on the top of the cards, which is still pretty ok
- only sometimes you must be a bit careful, when sleeving the cards (i sleeved over 1k cards from MTG with those sleeves and only 1 card was a bit bended from me, when i was too fast and watching a movie)
Now the last question: Where do i get those sleeves? And are there any options?
Pro-Fit (Ultra Pro): These are the sleeves i always use. They are not too expensive, the quality is good and i had very good experience with those.
KMC perfect size: These sleeves are more expensive and i dont have any experience with them, but from what i have heard this is the top notch quality you can get.
You can use all other inner sleeves that fit the size, but i personally recommend those two.
