Finally I feel the number of copies of a card are probably okay. If your opponent has a single Dispel and uses it on your biggest thing it will hurt, but you now know he cannot use it again. If he had a play set he could repeat this multiple times with ease seeing as he has access to the whole spell book. This would not be very enjoyable for the player on the receiving end of it. :what:
I don't see it like this. Spells like dispel or dissolve cost the same as the enchantment or equipment it counters. This means both lost an action and the same amount of mana. Also as far as I know there is no spell that counters creatures like this (I don't have the game yet)
This means you will only use these spells if it gives you a good enough advantage because the other player might summon a creature and you just spent your action.
Ah, but you're not thinking Fourth Dimensionally! :) If I put a wand into play that I know my opponent will want to dissolve, then:
1) I will try to put it into play when I'm far enough away from his mage so he won't likely be able to get in range in one round.
2) I now know what 50% of the cards in his hand is going to be! So what do I do with that knowledge? Go on the offensive baby! Kick up the tempo and keep him on his heels!
This game can be all about creating multiple crises that your opponent has to deal with, when he can't possibly tackle them all.
If all you're doing is Punch/Counterpunch.... yeah, any game like that would be boring. In Mage Wars, it all comes down to out-thinking and out-anticipating your opponent.
