I appreciate the thoughtful remarks made by all. I do need to clarify a couple of things I guess I poorly communicated previously.

First, this is about a protected wand. It is protected with Nullify or Reverse Magic. The debate about which spell to put on the wand, or either wand is good. But, as I noted in the first sentence of my OP and later repeated, it's about a protected wand. I didn't realize initially that a wand could be protected with an enchantment. Whatever I decide to attach to the wand can be effectively protected, and even reversed.

The second is my quote here.
Maybe I'm focusing on the situation I was in last weekend, where I had my Wizard back in his corner by his lair that was generating 3-4 mana per turn. I had 4 mana leeches around his Mage. We couldn't think of a solution. He had a teleport to get his Priestess back home, but I was going to knock out his creatures with my wand.

My Wizard was back in his own corner by his own lair. My opponent's priestess had advanced to try to kill the wand I had, or she would lose. My wand came out late game, and I reversed or nullified all his kill spells. My opponent was going to have to teleport back home, away from my Wizard. I can see why this was misread.

So, maybe the wand was not the deciding factor, as I had it in play only the last 3-4 turns of a 12-15 turn game.

But I still come back to my original concern, that of being able to protect a wand with Nullify or Reverse. A wand seemed to have about the right ratio of strength to vulnerability until I realized that it could be protected. Have others played with this protection on their wand, and what was the experience?
