My reading of the rules is just like yours, but if I'm allowed an opinion I'd probably house-rule that away. This is the first case where something in the game rules generates a situation that seems counterintuitive to me.I'd just assume the attacking flying unit loses its flying trait until the end of its Action Phase instead of the attack.
