I think it's more a case of the wizard being stronger than the others than a case of the warlock being weaker.The warlocks best abilities are his melee +1 and his 2 schools of magic. And that's it. The other abilites are just minor bonuses without great impact on the game.
His 2 schools makes him better in spellbook-building than both Beastmaster and Priestess in my opinion. Thanks to his 2 schools he can afford a lot of different cards in his spellbook making him more versatile than the others (still I find the wizard even better in that regard). This makes it more difficult to couter a warlock-build and also getting him more options to counter the strategies of the opponent.
And also you can't argue that his skills are worse than all the other mages but in different areas like you do. In most cases you will play only 1 mage at a time and then it's only relevant to compare the mages to 1 other mage at the time.
When you compare like that I feel the wizard might be a bit overpowered because he can build almost all kinds of builds very well and have a lot of options thanks to his training.
That being said, I haven't played this game as much as you guys and this is just my first thought after a few games and after reading this thread. Might be wrong, but that's my impression anyway.
