I finally did manage to get this game played tonight. Most of my concerns have been relieved, I'm happy to say. I'll be posting up a session report and mini-review after I get some sleep, but the short version:

- The start of the game was .. I guess awkward is the word? We both finally agreed to just grab two cards each "that look cool" and go with it, in order to get the game rolling. Otherwise I think we could have been in the planning phase of round 1 for 20 minutes or more.

- Each round after became quicker as we understood the icons and keywords better and had progressively fewer spells to mull over. By the end of the game our rounds were taking 1-2 minutes for full completion.

- I do think a learning setup will be helpful in most cases for first time players. I see that the "Teaching Mage Wars" PDf is now up: http://magewars.com/jsite/detailed-overview/rules (linked at the bottom of that page).

- Our game took about two hours to complete, I can see experienced players getting it done in an hour for an average.

I definitely cannot wait to play again!
