Beastmaster vs Warlock went OK, was done in about 90 minutes
but Beastmaster vs Priestess became painful.
Whatever damage the Beastmaster inflicted was just erased by healing effects. After about two hours we decided to quit because we didn't really see the end in sight.

This game HAS a time problem and a "perfect counter" problem IMO.

I want to like this game, really I do, but I have a "Titanic" feeling ...

The perfect counters will certainly run out during the game but I agree that they are a primary reason for the slow game.

Add in the healing and suddenly an hour of work just got reset back to zero. I am seeing more and more reports of Priestess games going that way.

My buddy and I played a Warlock vs Wizard game the other night, and both decks were VERY aggressive. 2 hours. I made a couple of dumb mistakes too. It should have been 2.5 hours.

I also want to love this game. I keep giving it tries and I keep reading about it. Still more to try on that topic. I hope I can get the times down.

There is a niche for the 2 player ccg/tactical game. So long as people are fine with 2 hours and more in their 2 player game, then they will like this. If not, then so be it.

One thing which might help the game is to get rid of the ENDLESS amount of mana.
Don't these Mages ever tire ?
Why not gradually reduce the amount of Mana Mages receive every round.
That way they would eventually run out of mana and have to finish/decide the game with what they have on the board already.

That is interesting. Diminishing mana/channeling. I think another way to fix it is to reduce deck sizes or modify deck building in such a way that there are 3 tiers of costs.

1 per level of chosen school.
2 per level of secondary school.
3 for all others. ---- this would make it hard to dip into an off school for that 1 critical spell.

That would reduce deck size and make it harder to add as many "perfect counters" or healing. Of course, not for the Priestess, but that is another thing.

Maybe raise the mana costs of healing spells? I always see minor heal cast, rarely the others.

The Regeneration items/spells could cost more. I dunno. Just thinking out loud.
