Thread: Mage Wars:: General:: Trying to eliminate "time" and "perfect counter" issues.

From personal experience : the game is being prevented from being great by these two major obstacles.
The game takes far too long because whatever you do, the opponent probably has a perfect counter for it in his deck, resulting in a score of rounds just off-setting each other. An hour deep into the game and no real progress being made on either side indicates a problem in my book.

Pointing out issues is easy, of course, but how about fixing them ?

IMO the spellpoints of each Mage have to be drastically reduced. From 120 to like 80 or probably even just 60 points.
That way it would be impossible to counter EVERY threat and would also very likely force Mages to build more "focused" spellbooks.

On top of that, it seems to me there's something not right with Mages getting infinite mana like they never get tired. Obviously this allows them to cast spells until their spellbook runs out and beyond, if they have abilities, which again allows the game to drag on forever.

I'd like to suggest the following change : whenever a Mage takes (one or more) damage during a turn, his Channeling Ability drops 1 point.
That way it would become harder to cast spells as your Mage takes more damage and this would no doubt speed up the game.

So there you have my suggestions :
- Reduced spellbooks
- Diminishing Channeling ability when taking damage

Thanks for reading.
